I found this poem recently, and thought it was so right on!
DEAR LORD, I'LL WALK
Dear Lord, I'll walk in gratefulness
Not murmur nor repine
When others' lots are not as hard
And difficult as mine.
Dear Lord, I'll walk in humbleness
Lest pride should do me in
And I wake to find myself
Victim of my own sin.
Dear Lord, I'll walk in wisdom's path
Not self-asserted smart
It's learning what Thy will's about
That proves how great Thou art!
Dear Lord, I'll walk each day as if
Today might be last
Convinced that Christ must be made known
And making it my task.
Dear Lord, I'll keep my eyes heavenward,
Ears open to Thy voice
When that trump sounds I shall ascend
And evermore rejoice!
DEAR LORD, I'LL WALK
Dear Lord, I'll walk in gratefulness
Not murmur nor repine
When others' lots are not as hard
And difficult as mine.
Dear Lord, I'll walk in humbleness
Lest pride should do me in
And I wake to find myself
Victim of my own sin.
Dear Lord, I'll walk in wisdom's path
Not self-asserted smart
It's learning what Thy will's about
That proves how great Thou art!
Dear Lord, I'll walk each day as if
Today might be last
Convinced that Christ must be made known
And making it my task.
Dear Lord, I'll keep my eyes heavenward,
Ears open to Thy voice
When that trump sounds I shall ascend
And evermore rejoice!
