Alas! We're not referring to those awesome Power Rangers! I was challenged by a recent study in my Sunday School class based on John Ortberg's The Life You've Aways Wanted. Spiritual disciplines...God was using this to nudge me deeper. One week inparticular we talked about "spiritual transformation". Here are some of my notes:
It's Morphing Time
The hope of the Christian gospel is to have life NOW and more abundantly! ...
Our spiritual growth or change is very important...
Read Colossians 3:5-17 - transformed life
Read 2 Corinthians 3:18 - we are becoming
Sometimes I feel so defeated when I just try harder to do what's right spiritually. Trying harder vs. Training Wisely. Ortberg compares training in spiritual disciplines(ex. faithful prayer, Bible study, etc) like an athlete trains for competition. It doesn't all happen overnight, it takes time and training, doing the same exercises over and over until you master it and can move on to the next thing.
To see how this transformation takes place - see what Paul encourages Timothy to do in 1 Timothy 4:7-8. Train Spiritually.
No matter where we are in our walk with the Lord, we can ALWAYS go deeper. If we are not growing daily, are we stagnating?
Questions for You:
In what direction are you presently being transformed?
Is this where you want to go? Why / Why not?
