Why does Satan put such a high priority on destroying our prayer life? Paul wrote, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). As Christians we are in a spiritual battle. The only time Satan worries about us is when we enter into this battle. Nothing else we do is much of a threat. Satan knows that real spiritual battle is done on our knees. Prayer is the weapon he fears most; therefore, it is prayer against which he makes his greatest attack. It is on our knees that the greatest good is done, and it is on our knees that we will face the greatest assaults.
