Contentment cannot be bought. Most with little do not profess satisfaction. Yet many with much still want much more. "Having nothing" does not guarantee fulfillment. And "having enough" is ever-elusive.
Craving, on the other hand, makes itself abundantly available. Countless times a day, our culture intentionally injects us with strong desires of dissatisfaction in an overt effort to make us discontent with what is and hungry for what could be.
So what does all this have to do with resting in God's provision? Unfortunately, a great deal because it forces upon us a serious question: When we pray to God for His provision, do we ask with a contented heart or a craving heart? ...Craving hearts will never know satisfaction regardless of how often or how much God provides. But contented hearts always know satisfaction even before they finish their prayer.

This verse comes to mind when I read all of this...
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7
It is in Him alone that we find our sought after peace. We have a loving Father who knows our needs even before we do, and He knows exactly what we need, exactly when we need it. He is faithful to provide.
